Why Do Dental Implants Sometimes Cause A Perforated Sinus?
Sinus perforation sometimes occurs with dental implants when a clot cannot form and seal a hole created during the procedure. This hole, or perforation, occurs in the membrane that separates your maxillary sinus from your oral cavity. This perforation introduces new pathways for bacteria to enter the sinus, which can lead to sinus infections. These infections can become uncomfortable or even painful.
